You do not need a diagnosis to reach out and seek support. If you are struggling with your relationship with food, that is reason enough to get support!
I would be honored to help you move towards recovery!
I strive to provide a safe, comfortable, and relaxed space for my clients to discuss food and their bodies. I try to bring humor into our work together because I know that recovery is hard!
I also work closely with my clients' therapists to make sure that you feel completely supported. If you do not have a therapist yet, I am happy to help you find one that fits your needs.
We will meet weekly (or more often if needed, at first) virtually. These appointments will cover a range of topics depending on your needs and will shift as you move through recovery.
I see most clients for at least 6 months, many for a year or more. Recovery is not a race!
I use an empathetic, relational approach with my client work. It's important to me that you feel safe and listened to during our time together. Recovery is not a one-size fits all thing and your treatment will be centered around your unique needs.
My clients are able to message me between appointments as needed for extra support.
Schedule a free virtual 20-minute Discovery Call with me to learn more about working together.
This is a casual call to introduce yourself, briefly review what you're hoping to get support with, and, if it feels like a good fit, set up your Intake Appointment.
I accept Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO plans ONLY.
There are certain states that I CANNOT accept insurance from. Please see below.
I require all clients to contact BCBS to verify their own insurance benefits for nutrition counseling - this protects you from getting stuck with surprise bills!
To get in contact with BCBS, call the 800 number on the back of your insurance card and reference the questions below.
Ellen can accept BCBS PPO insurance in any state EXCEPT the following:
Alaska, Connecticut, Delaware, DC, Florida, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Pennsylvania
If the insurance company asks for a CPT code please provide them with the following codes: 97802 and 97803.
If the representative asks for a diagnosis code (called an ICD 10 code) – tell them the visit is coded the ICD 10 code: Z71.3
If they don’t accept Z71.3, ask them which codes can be covered. We can discuss this more together.
Your carrier will let you know how many visits they are willing to cover. Depending on the carrier the number of visits vary from 0 to unlimited depending on medical need.
A cost-share is the amount you will need to pay as required by your particular insurance plan towards your services. A cost-share can be in the form of a deductible, co-pay or co-insurance.
I will always bill under your insurance policy’s plan under your preventative benefits if your plan allows. With that being said, if you have preventative benefits there if often NO cost share for you associated with the visit. Once again, this is something YOU do want to ask prior to your visit.
In the event you have a cost-share, I will initially bill your insurance company directly. Once we receive the EOB describing your responsibility as the patient, I will bill the credit card on file for the amount noted under 'patient responsibility.'
For most insurance companies dietitians are considered a specialist. Therefore, your specialist co-pay is applicable and is payable at the time of service. This information is often apparent on the front of your actual insurance card. However, often because we bill your insurance with preventative counseling the co-pay is often not applicable.
I always wait for the claim to be processed to determine whether or not you have a co-pay and then charge the credit card you have on file with me the co-pay amount.
For self-pay clients, I use packages of 4 sessions at a time. For eating disorder clients, this would likely cover one month of support. Package pricing is $667 for 4 sessions, with 2 to 3 month payment plans available. I am always happy to work with you to find a payment plan that works for you!
To see if your insurance company will reimburse you for our work together, contact your insurance company by calling the 800 number on the back of your insurance card and ask them, “Do you cover out-of-network nutrition services?”
